I had the honor of speaking at the Navy Yard as part of the Command’s Distinguished Speaker Series. It was the first one NAVSEA has had since the tragedy from 2013 where a gunman killed 12 people on campus. Before I gave my talk… I had a chance to see the memorial in the renovated building where so many lost their lives that day. It was an important moment. A reminder that things can change in an instance.
I was able to walk down the hall and into a room filled with some incredible people. The NAVSEA community is a strong one. My father worked at the Navy Yard when I was younger so I felt an instant connection with the group. They were funny, had great questions and at the end of the day I think we all left with a smile. In the end .. that’s all I can hope for. Thanks NAVSEA for having me. (Photos by Scott Adam Webb)
